First of all, let me start by adding to Laura's previous post: our wedding on Saturday, July 5th will be a day we will never forget. Despite poor weather predictions, the sun shined brightly all day. We managed to fit over 200 friends and family members comfortably between the two lots, along with dozens of neighborly onlookers. The food and wine flowed, the music played, everyone danced, and the evening was capped by some spectacular fireworks!
Our photographer, Mandy Sroka - sister-in-law, did an amazing job and you will all be able to see the results online in the coming days/weeks as she adds the finishing touches to her work. Keep checking Mandy Sroka Photography for updates. (there is also a link on the right-hand side of our blog page)
Now to the honeymoon:
This is how we arrived at the Punta Cana airport. It was probably the coolest airport I've ever seen (although Norfolk gives it a run for its money..... kidding!). The entire place was like a giant tiki hut and it was all open-air. We didn't take many pictures on the trip, so we splurged the $8.00 for the one they took of us upon our arrival. We were the first ones off the plane and on the bus to our resort.
The Dreams resort in Punta Cana was unbelievable!
On Wednesday, we were gifted with a private romantic dinner on the beach, paid for by Laura's Aunt Terri and Uncle Bucky, along with cousins, Jennifer and Wesley.
(One of the few pictures we actually took on our trip.)
Thursday was spent just enjoying our surroundings, the gorgeous weather, the nice people, the pool, the beach, the bars, the restaurants, .... the room service!!
We departed early Friday morning and spent most the day travelling. An hour and a half bus ride from the resort the the airport (on crazy, dusty, pot-hole-ridden streets), then a two hour wait at the airport to board the plane, then a three and a half hour flight to BWI, then an hour drive back to our home (in rush hour traffic).... needless to say it was good to be home....
.... and back with our little girl!
So its a normal work week ahead for me. Laura is helping out getting the house settled with our new gifts and different odds and ends. Then its off to the Outer Banks with the entire Sroka clan on Saturday for a week!
