May The Force Be With You

Yesterday was another busy Disney day. We arrived at the Animal Kingdom as the park was opening. We met up with the Armstrongs again and made our way to the Safari ride. There we saw lots of real live animals from all over the world, including lions, hippos, rhinos, giraffes, and lots and lots of elephants! It made the robo-animals from the Jungle Cruise (over at the Magic Kingdom) seem really lame. After the safari, we headed over to see the Lion King show. We made it to the second row and it was a great show! There was lots of live singing and circus-like performers: fire breathers, trapeze artists, stilt-walkers, etc. Here are me and Kinzie waiting in line for the show.
Mimi let Kinzie play with her camera a lot throughout the day and this is one of her shots that we all thought was particularly artistic. We called it "Mommy's Foot, My Foot."
We did lots of other stuff at Animal Kingdom, including the Finding Nemo live show and the Expedition Everest roller coaster. (Kinzie stayed with Grandpop, Mimi, and Aunt Pat, while me, Laura and Artie braved Everest in search of the monstrous Yeti.)
After finishing up everything we wanted to do at Animal Kingdom, we headed over to Disney Hollywood Studios. It used to be called MGM Studios and its still hard to get used to calling it "Hollywood Studios" now, but maybe it'll stick over time. Mackinzie was very excited to see Yoda in the Star Wars section of the park. She has become a little Star Wars geek, like daddy, and Yoda is her favorite. Maybe because he has practically the same voice as Grover from Sesame Street, but who knows. She was too small for the Star Wars ride, "Star Tours", but she got her picture taken on the Speeder Bike from Return of the Jedi. I think there's a picture of me on this bike taken a couple of years ago floating around... I'll have to see if I can dig it up when we get home.
Hollywood Studios was very crowded yesterday and there were long waits for all of the good attractions, so we made the most of the "Fast Passes". Laura, Artie, and I were able to get on the Tower of Terror twice and the Aerosmith Rock N' Roller Coaster at the end of the day with pretty much no wait at all.
Kinzie made a new friend in Kermit the Frog and we took him with us to see the Muppet 3D show.
The 3D effects scared Mackinzie a little bit at first, but she started to figure it out and really enjoyed the show.
The best show came for us at the end of the day. While we waited in line to see the Beauty and the Beast show, a Disney cast member spotted Mackinzie and offered her and our group "princess treatment", including up-close seats for the show and the opportunity to meet Belle at the end of the show.
The show was excellent! All of the characters were there, including Gaston! Kinzie had been watching Beauty and the Beast a lot lately, leading up to our vacation (not as much as Peter Pan though), so she knew the whole story line...
... and she was very into the show!
She kept her arms crossed and focused on the entire show.

Now here is where my lame photography skills come into play. At the end of the show, the characters came out for a curtain call and the Disney cast member who first gave Mackinzie her "princess pass" came out of take Kinzie up to the front of the stage to quickly meet Belle. Laura got to go with her. Belle leaned over and greeted Kinzie and gave her a big plush rose to keep.
I tried to snap a shot of all this, but Laura was kind of in the way and it all happened so fast that by the time the camera snapped, this is all I got. Belle and the prince were already walking away. Oh well! It was very cool for Mackinzie and we were all very excited for her. She also got to take a home a little certificate that certified this to be a true Disney Magical Moment.... a 15 second magical moment, but a magical moment nonetheless.
Another long Disney day was in the books. We came home and Kinzie got to play with her Cinderella Castle playset again, only this time she got to add a miniature Yoda, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and other Star Wars characters to her collection.

Today has been a lazy day around the Rode Florida house. Kinzie just woke up from a nice long nap. We're planning on making one last visit to the community pool tonight after dinner. We'll be returning to Baltimore tomorrow evening.
